What information do we collect and why?
When you order, we need to know your name, e-mail address, billing address, and delivery address. To help prevent fraud, we also capture the IP address used when placing an order online. This allows us to process and fulfil your orders and to notify you of your order status. We also ask for your telephone number which enables us to contact you urgently if there is a problem with your order. For some international deliveries this number may be given to our couriers.
When you enter a competition or other promotional feature, we may ask for your name, address and e-mail address so we can administer the contest and notify winners.
We personalise your shopping experience by using your purchases to shape our recommendations about the products that might be of interest to you. We also monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the store, and improve security.
We use an external email system to send some of our order processing emails; our email address will be stored in this system so you may receive future update emails and promotions. You can beremoved from this system at any time by emailing [email protected] or clicking the unsubscribe link on any of the emails. We will still retain your email address as part of the original order datafor warranty purposes.
How to keep your personal information up to date?
If you would like to revise the information provided to us, or feel that what we currently have on record is incorrect, you may update the information by sending an e-mail to [email protected], specifying the changes you require.
How does Britcar protect customer information?
Providing you a secure online experience is one of Britcar's highest priorities. We recognise that your privacy and security are of the utmost importance and have devoted a great deal of effort to ensure that your personal information is safeguarded.
When completing the online checkout, your payment data will be used only by secure online payment providers (Worldpay or Paypal). We cannot see or interact with the card details used on any particular order. Card payment history is stored with the payment gateway providers and is not linked to, or accessible from, the Britcar (UK) Ltd website.
Furthermore, as required by the UK Data Protection Acts of 1984 and 1998, and now the GDPR, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose sensitive information to you.
Will Britcar disclose the information it collects to outside parties?
No. Britcar does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. Britcar may provide aggregate statistics about our customers, sales, traffic patterns and related site information to reputable third-party vendors, but these statistics will include no personally identifying information.
Should a situation arise where we are required by law or legal process to provide information about a customer, we will co-operate fully and supply the requested details.
